Accidental Damage Claim

Here's what you need to do…

Submit the following documents within 30 DAYS of the Accident

  • Fully completed BCIC Motor Accident Report Form (Signed by both the Driver and the Insured)
  • Copy of Driver's Licence of the Driver (both back and front)
  • If the driver is a Learner, a copy of the Provisional Driver's Licence and licence of person seated beside the Learner
  • Copy of Certificate of Fitness
  • Copy of Registration Certificate
  • Proof of Insurance (Certificate of Insurance or Cover Note)
  • Estimate of repairs from repairer if claim is for damage to the vehicle.

 

Theft or Fire Claim

  • Fully completed BCIC Motor Theft Report Form or Accident Report Form signed by the Insured (and Driver, if applicable)
  • Copy of Driver's Licence of the Driver (both back and front)
  • Copy of Certificate of Fitness
  • Copy of Registration Certificate

    The ORIGINALS  of the following documents will be required if the vehicle is destroyed or has not been recovered:

    • Certificate of Insurance or Cover Note;
    • Certificate of Fitness;
    • Registration Certificate;
    • Keys for the Vehicle;
    • Certificate of Title, partially transferred

    Where your Motor Insurance Certificate or Cover Note is lost, stolen or destroyed, a Lost Certificate Declaration Form is to be completed.

    For all other documents, substitutes must be obtained from the Inland Revenue Department and the Examination Depot. You must first obtain a letter from the Police confirming the reported loss of the documents.

Please note that: -

  • All incidents must be reported to the Police within 24 hours of its occurrence.
  • All incidents must be reported to BCIC, your Broker or Agent as soon as possible whether or not you intend to make a claim or whether or not you are at fault.
  • You must not admit liability nor make any offer of or payment to any person.
  • Your Motor Accident Report Form along with Drivers Licence and vehicle documents can be submitted prior to the estimate of repairs.
  • All legal correspondence received (e.g. Notice of Proceedings) must be submitted IMMEDIATELY to BCIC either directly or through your Broker or Agent.
  • The Motor Accident Report Form must be signed by you, the Insured, and Driver (if Driver is not the Insured).

 

House and Content

Here's what you need to do…

  • Make a list of all damaged property and check your insurance schedule to make sure that what you are claiming for is insured.
  • Contact BCIC, your Agent or Broker immediately to advise that you wish to make a claim.
  • Complete the Home "Cover-All" Claim Form and submit within 30 days of the incident to BCIC, your Agent or Broker.
  • If your Building is damaged, obtain an estimate from a repairer of your choice and send it to us as soon as possible. We must have the opportunity to see the damage and approve the estimate before work begins.
  • Should your premises be deemed uninhabitable seek alternative accommodation

Note:

In the case of burglary or housebreaking, notify the police immediately;

Secure the premises as necessary;

Take photographs of damage where possible.

In the event of burglary, do not touch or remove damaged items until after the arrival of the police.

If there is serious damage we will send someone to see you. This may be one of our Claims Inspectors or an independent Loss Adjuster appointed by us. His job is to advise you what to do immediately and to tell you what further information will be required. When all the necessary information is available, the Claims Inspector or Loss Adjustor will agree with you the amount payable under the policy.

Windscreen or Window ONLY

Here's what you need to do…

  1. Complete a BCIC Claim Form (Windscreen Only)
  2. Have your vehicle inspected by a representative of BCIC or your Agent or Broker
  3. Submit Form along with an estimate of the damage or replacement cost from a supplier.

Note:

The damage must be to the glass in vehicle windscreen or windows ONLY
You will be directed to one of the Company's approved suppliers who will repair or replace the glass.

Should you chose not to use any of our approved suppliers you will be refunded the amount expended for replacement or repair

You are allowed to claim this benefit ONCE within the policy year and it will not affect your No Claim Discount
